Why Cost+

Compare Standard Blended Pricing With IC++

Stripe sets rates by card category

On Stripe's Danish standard price list, standard EEA cards cost 1.5% + DKK 1.80, premium EEA cards cost 2.8% + DKK 1.80, UK cards cost 2.5% + DKK 1.80 and international cards cost 3.15% + DKK 1.80. Currency conversion adds 2% where required.

The regulatory cap applies to interchange

Regulation (EU) 2015/751 caps interchange at 0.20% for covered consumer debit transactions and 0.30% for covered consumer credit transactions. Those caps do not represent the merchant's total processing cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers based on Stripe's Danish and Finnish price lists, EU interchange regulation and Stripe's restricted-business page.
Stripe charges by card category on its Danish standard price list: 1.5% + DKK 1.80 for standard EEA cards, 2.8% + DKK 1.80 for premium EEA cards, 2.5% + DKK 1.80 for UK cards and 3.15% + DKK 1.80 for international cards. UK and international cards add 2% if currency conversion is required. Standard pricing has no setup or monthly fee, and 3D Secure is included at no additional charge.
This example uses Stripe's Finnish EUR price list, not its Danish DKK list. Assumptions: 20,000 transactions/year, averaging 1,666.67 per month, at an average basket of EUR 25; EUR 500,000/year and an average EUR 41,666.67/month; 100% standard EEA consumer debit cards; and no currency conversion. Stripe is (EUR 500,000 x 1.5%) + (20,000 x EUR 0.25) = EUR 12,500/year. Averaged across 12 months, that is EUR 625 in percentage fees + EUR 416.67 in fixed fees = EUR 1,041.67/month, rounded to cents. For Cost+, assuming 0.20% interchange, 0.10% scheme fee and the 0.50% margin, the calculation is EUR 4,000 + EUR 3,000 = EUR 7,000/year, or an average EUR 333.33 + EUR 250 = EUR 583.33/month, rounded to cents.
Stripe's Danish local-payment-method page lists MobilePay at 1.5% + DKK 2.80, plus 2% if currency conversion is required and DKK 35/month for Danish businesses. Cost+ offers MobilePay with zero monthly subscription under IC++ pricing, with an optional flat-fee agreement for eligible low-risk merchants.
On standard pricing, Stripe says there is no fee to issue a card refund, but the original payment processing, Connect and currency conversion fees are not returned. Stripe's Danish dispute price is DKK 200 for each dispute received plus DKK 200 for each dispute manually countered. The countered fee is returned for a won dispute, and Stripe notes that rare network fees may also apply.
Stripe says prohibited categories cannot use its services. Restricted categories require additional due diligence, and Stripe might not approve them. The list is representative rather than exhaustive and includes jurisdiction-specific rules, so merchants should check Stripe's current page for their exact product, business model and country. Cost+ considers specialist merchants subject to underwriting and risk assessment.
