How the estimate works

What is the estimate based on?

100% of the modeled volume uses the selected card type and region. This is a scenario, not your actual card mix. One authorization attempt is assumed per successful transaction. Acquiring authorization fees apply per attempt, including unsuccessful attempts. The bank and scheme cost is an editable estimate for non-Amex IC++. Actual costs vary. Amex uses its flat rate without adding the IC++ margin or bank-cost assumption. Sample inputs are editable. Annual differences equal the monthly difference multiplied by 12; a negative difference means higher estimated costs.

What does the Gateway Only estimate include?

This subtotal includes successful transactions and optional Cost+ Shopify. Successful refunds are excluded and are charged separately at the same gateway fee per successful refund. Acquiring costs are excluded. Bring your own acquiring agreement. This subtotal cannot be used for an all-in savings comparison.

Does using Cost+ on Shopify cost extra?

Using a Cost+ Shopify app adds 0.35% of transaction value on every plan, billed separately from processing fees. This is the Cost+ app charge; your Shopify plan may impose other charges.

Are refund fees and other event fees included in the estimate?

No. Estimates exclude fees for settlement, successful refunds and disputes, as well as currency conversion costs and other applicable payment-method fees. On IC++ and blended, each successful refund, whether full or partial, incurs the fixed refund fee shown in your currency’s fee schedule.

How does currency conversion affect the estimate?

Currency conversion costs are not included in the estimate. 0% Cost+ FX markup. If payment and account settlement currencies differ, conversion takes place when the transaction is processed, not at payout. Matching currencies avoids this conversion and its cost. The benchmark is sourced from Visa, Mastercard and currencylayer; the conversion provider may apply an adjustment of up to 3% within the exchange rate. Cost+ adds no margin and receives no share of that adjustment. Transaction reporting shows the original payment and converted settlement amounts so you can check the rate.

Approval, settlement timing and any rolling reserve depend on underwriting and the merchant agreement.
